A franchise was awarded to Val-d'Or in 1993.

A short time later, in 1995-96, the team would enjoy its first winning season.

In 1997-98, the goaltender Roberto Luongo, recently selected 4th overall in the NHL Entry Draft by the New York Islanders, was absolutely outstanding: he tied the League Record of 7 shutouts (Nick Sanza | 1974-75 | Sherbrooke).

In the spring of 1998, the Foreurs won their first President Cup title by sweeping the Rimouski Océanic in four consecutive games in the League final. Jean-Pierre Dumont was sensational, establishing a new record for most goals in the playoffs with 31.

Three years later, Simon Gamache would collect 57 points, crushing Mario Lemieux' playoff record of 52, to deliver the second President Cup title to the organization. Gamache also won the regular season scoring championship with 184 points. The team would lose in the 2001 Memorial Cup Tournament final by blowing a 5-4 third period lead to the Red Deer Rebels. In 2007, it's the third time that the Foreurs went to the President Cup Final (after 1998 and 2001). Their opponents, the Lewiston MAINEiacs, won the championship series.

On February 3, 2010, in a 5-3 win over Rimouski, the Foreurs registered their 500th win in the QMJHL.

In 2014, goaltender Antoine Bibeau and natural born scorer Anthony Mantha (81 goals in 81 games) were the tem's stars and the Val-d'Or Foreurs hoisted the President Cup again, for the 3rd time over the course of 21 seasons.

During the 2019-20 regular season, Justin Robidas became the real first "16-year-old rookie player", in the history of the Foreurs, to reach the 20 goal-mark, by scoring 21 in 57 games.
